Ravens may go after RB Ezekiel Elliott

OSU running back Ezekiel Elliott is making a lot of waves this week, with speculation that he could go to the Dallas Cowboys or the Miami Dolphins. According to Ian Rapoport, one team that no one should count out is the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens have been in need of a star running back since they cut Ray Rice in the wake of his domestic violence incident—when video emerged of Rice punching his girlfriend in the face.

The team did get excellent production out of Justin Forsett the following year, in 2014, as he ran for 1,266 yards and eight touchdowns, making it to the Pro Bowl. However, it was clear from his history—he’d never been that good before—and his age that Forsett was not the longterm answer. Sure enough, in 2015, he ran for only 641 yards and two touchdowns in a year that was cut down to just 10 games. Some of that’s not his fault, but it was still a massive drop-off and cemented the fact that the Ravens needed to look for a replacement for the 30-year-old back.

The Ravens did sign a former high pick—No. 3 overall—this offseason, adding Trent Richardson. However, most people think he’s a bust and not the answer either, so they could be tempted to move for Elliott if he gets past the Cowboys at No. 4.

Elliott is certainly an intriguing back who has done everything you can do at the college level, including carrying the Buckeyes to a National Title, which is why teams have been eyeing taking him so high.
